Eurotrip Day 14 brought us absolutely perfect weather for sightseeing!  Paris has an extensive train system, but we opted to walk everywhere so we could see as much as possible.  That meant another 7 miles added to our overall trip!  We saw all of the major outdoor Paris attractions throughout the day, took a wine tasting class, and ended the evening with a very interesting dinner.  Read on to explore Paris with us…

Eurotrip Day 13: London to Paris

On Eurotrip Day 13 we definitely took it easy.  We slept in, then walked through Picadilly Circus to the National Portrait Gallery and The National [Art] Gallery.  We made our way to the train station in the afternoon, where we took the Eurostar high-speed train from London to Paris.  Paris was a bit of a culture shock compared to Ireland and the United Kingdom… mostly because this was the only country during this trip where English was not the primary language.  Upon arriving at our hotel, we immediately downloaded Google Translate!

Eurotrip Day 11 was another 10+ mile day of walking and sight-seeing around London.  We opted not to do full tours at most of the sites, because let’s face it… that can get super pricey and time consuming.  We did tour Westminster Abbey, which was excellent and our favorite part of the day.  Neither of us knew that there are people buried within the abbey… some very famous people!  The ones we found most interesting were Charles Darwin, Isaac Newton, and Charles Dickens.  We also attended a choral service at St. Paul’s Cathedral.  To end the day, we drank real ales and ate meat pies at a local pub on Trafalgar Square.

Eurotrip Day 7 was a very relaxed Easter Sunday.  We started our day with a church service at the Inverness Methodist Church.  The congregation was small, and they were SO excited to have visitors from the USA.  The rest of the day was spent on a leisurely afternoon drive through the middle of the Highlands.  We stopped at Tomatin and Dalwhinnie distilleries.  Our drive ended in Dundee, where we stayed at an old manor house that had been converted to a Hilton property.  Read on to learn more about our exploration of the Scottish Highlands.

Eurotrip Day 5 was dedicated to exploring various Game of Thrones® filming locations throughout Northern Ireland.  It was by far the most jam-packed day of the trip and the most highly anticipated for me!  We visited the Mourne Mountains, Tollymore Forest Park, Castle Ward, Inch Abbey, Carrick-A-Rede Rope Bridge, Giant’s Causeway, Dunluce Castle, and the Dark Hedges.

Eurotrip Day 3 was all about castles!  We drove from Cork to Dublin and visited Blarney Castle, The Rock of Cashel, and Kilkenny Castle along the way.  The first two were ruins, while the last was a fully restored castle.  All were impressive in their own respect, but our favorite was Blarney Castle.  Kissing the Blarney Stone was definitely a bucket list item checked.  I also made my first attempt at driving in Ireland today…I only ran into the passenger side curb once…okay, maybe twice.

Eurotrip Day 2 was a leisurely day of exploring the natural wonders of Ireland.  We considered driving the Ring of Kerry, but after of our long, 7-hour drive the day before, we instead opted to sleep in, eat a wonderful breakfast in our castle, and head to the various sights within Killarney National Park.  Our favorite part of the day was the Gap of Dunloe.  It was so incredibly peaceful and beautiful!
