Eurotrip Day 12 – The English Bus Tour to Bath and Stonehenge

IMG_1896 (1)

On Eurotrip Day 12, we enjoyed a full-day tour from London to Bath and Stonehenge aboard The English Bus.  Brooke and I were excited to see these historic sites, and I was looking forward to letting somebody else do the driving!  The city of Bath features old Roman-style baths and a beautiful abbey, and Stonehenge is an absolute marvel of the ancient world!

Match Your Hilton Honors Gold VIP Status to Hilton Diamond!

By: Frank – @dugup46 – Status matching is a pretty deal in the travel hobby in general; however, it’s exceptionally nice when you are talking about award travel.  Hotels not only treat their loyal customers better, but you can receive all kind of great benefits ranging from upgraded rooms to free breakfast!  Occasionally, different chains will offer status upgrades at the same time of the year.  Using a little wit, you can piggy back offers together and gain top status at a number of chains with no stays at any hotel’s property!  In this article, I will explain how, with very little effort, you can upgrade yourself from Hilton Gold to Hilton Diamond without staying a single night in a Hilton!

Eurotrip Day 11: Jolly Ole London Town

This post is part of our Eurotrip Series.  You can find the rest of the series here.

Eurotrip Day 11 was another 10+ mile day of walking and sight-seeing around London.  We opted not to do full tours at most of the sites, because let’s face it… that can get super pricey and time consuming.  We did tour Westminster Abbey, which was excellent and our favorite part of the day.  Neither of us knew that there are people buried within the abbey… some very famous people!  The ones we found most interesting were Charles Darwin, Isaac Newton, and Charles Dickens.  We also attended a choral service at St. Paul’s Cathedral.  To end the day, we drank real ales and ate meat pies at a local pub on Trafalgar Square.

Eurotrip Day 10: Scottish Family Heritage and Double Rainbows

This post is part of our Eurotrip Series.  You can find the rest of the series here.

Day 10 was a day of great personal significance to me.  My maternal ancestors are from Scotland, and they lived in the small, central town, which bears the family name:  Moffat.  My grandfather traveled to Moffat a few times during his life to march in parades and celebrate his Scottish heritage.  I really enjoyed being able to visit my ancestral home, before spending the evening in Glasgow.

Eurotrip Day 9: Edinburgh Day – Walking Tour, Harry Potter, & Arthur’s Seat

This post is part of our Eurotrip Series.  You can find the rest of the series here.

On Eurotrip Day 9, I would estimate we walked no less than 10 miles.  We took a free walking history tour of the city, and then we hiked up to Arthur’s Seat (a giant hill overlooking the city of Edinburgh).  The hike was not easy, but the views were totally worth the effort!  We walked back to our hotel and spent the rest of the evening eating, sipping wine, and propping up our very tired feet!
